These systems provide a means for installing sealing barriers usually located in the lower basement area of an oil and gas well for the purpose of isolating or shutting off unwanted production from depleted or watered out zones.
Permanent zonal isolation of producing zones usually located in the well basement area below the end of the production tubing which normally includes the installation of a high expansion sealing or non-sealing plug with specially formulated High Shear Bond cement placed on top whereas the cement, once cured, becomes the long-term sealing barrier. This entire system is usually deployed into the well using a wireline well intervention.
